Insurance
companies have a duty to act in good faith when dealing with thier customers.
Many insurance companies act fairly, but many do not. There are laws in place to protect insureds against the wrongful actions of insurance companies. Some of the more common complaints against insurance companies include denials made without a basis in the policy (called bad faith) or giving unreasonably low offers for claims. This may include claims from life insurance, homeowners insurance or title insurance.
Other common issues involve spouses making life insurance beneficiary designations to persons other than their spouses. In certain situations, this may entitle the non-designated or non listed spouse to a portion of the life insurance proceeds.
